Discussions

Invited guest artists from many parts of the world participated, namely, Mr. Manuel Filipe Pereira from Portugal; Ms Josephine Robinson from Australia; Ms Pimonparn Chandratip and Mrs Vanvipha Attavipach from Thailand; Ms May Cheong-Sahgal from Malaysia and two Master of Arts from China, Jiangzi Province, Mr Su Lihong and Mr Kuang Donggou,. Not forgetting participation of our very own Hong Kong artists, Mrs Lily Chan, Honorary Advisor of HKPPC, Mrs Ida Yu, President of HKPPC, Mrs Janny Chan Wong, Mrs Shirley Wong, Master Lau Chi Yuen and painting members of the HKPPC and other regions of the world. The exhibition provided an opportunity to promote porcelain painting art and culture and also a venue for mutual exchange of the diversity of styles of porcelain painting between East and West. Porcelain artists enthralled and enchanted the public with their demonstrations held daily at the exhibition from November 8-16, 2008. Great artwork pieces were created during the demonstrations. One of the highlights of the exhibition was when 5 great artists, Filipe Pereira, Josephine Robinson, Vanvipha Attavipach, Shu Lihong and Kuang Donggou got together one morning and each started painting on one part of a plate and the plates were passed around until all had painted their story on 5 different plates. The result was 5 fantastic plates painted in 5 different yet complementing styles.

They held painting demonstrations after which the three pieces of porcelain artwork were auctioned off to the highest bidders. These together with charity sale of our members’ paintings raised more than HK$4 million for Project Vision Charitable Foundation that establishes charity eye centers to provide large-scale, quality and affordable eye surgeries to the underprivileged patients in China. This charitable event was well received and broadcasted by local and overseas media.
